The party season is the best time to let your hair do the talking - and this year, to save you from tears, we’ve come up with very special festive hairdos.

There's no stylist or salon appointment required – you can do these hairstyles at home with the tools and the products we recommend. If you’re trying a style you haven’t worn before, we suggest one or two practice runs so you’re feeling confident about creating your hairstyle on the night.

Bouncy blow dry

You’ve probably seen TikTok influencers achieve their fluffy blow dries with heated rollers and hot brushes – and they get their incredible blow-outs by starting with clean, voluminous hair.

You'll need products to boost volume and keep hold from the get-go. Wash with our Volume Lift Lightweight Shampoo and Volume Lift Lightweight Conditioner, and then spray Volume Lift Thickening Blow-Out Spray through your lengths to amp up fine, flat hair. This heat-activated spray is made with Air-Silk Technology for incredible volume which won’t weigh your hair down.

To achieve an incredible bouncy blow dry, separate your hair into sections and dry each section using a large round brush. Start at the root and lift upwards, twisting your hair through the curve of the brush. Finish with a spritz of hairspray to keep your curls in place.

Relaxed bun

A bun is the perfect Christmas party hairstyle for shoulder-length hair, and works well for both black tie and cocktail parties. Just ensure it’s not too rigid, otherwise it’ll look too formal.

Secure your hair into a loose ponytail at the nape of the neck and wrap your hair around the ponytail’s base, gripping it with pins as you go. Pull tendrils out to frame your face and loosen the overall style.

If your hair’s clean, you may find it tricky to arrange the tendrils without flattening your style - our Volume Lift Root Booster will add texture and bounce for natural-looking volume.

Perfect curls

Want to be a curl queen but have poker straight locks? You’ll need to use hot brushes or curling irons to achieve the curls you’ve been craving. However, heat damage can cause your hair to become more fragile and less elastic, leading to breakage over time.

If you’re planning on rocking curly hair this Christmas, make sure you use our Heat Defeat Protecting Spray to protect your locks if you’re using heat styling tools. This spray, infused with a ThermaGuard Complex and humectants, helps replenish and moisturise hair, sealing strands and preventing breakage.

If you don’t want to use heat, there are plenty of ways to curl your hair overnight without using styling tools.

Slicked-back wet look hair

This bold and stylish hairstyle works for every hair length - but even though it looks easy to do, it can be tricky to achieve the sophisticated result you might have seen on celebrities. This is because you need to strike the right balance with the amount of moisture and product you use on your locks.

The key to getting this look right is blotting your hair dry before styling - don’t roughly towel dry, and stop once your hair’s around 60% dry. Then, take a drop of Frizz Ease All-in-1 Lightweight Serum and run through from roots to ends, raking the hair back with your fingers as you go. Lastly, finish with a liberal misting of Vibrant Shine 3-in-1 Shine Spray to give a glass-like finish.

This vintage hairstyle is perfect when paired with a pretty tea dress and a bold red lip.

Start by tying your hair in a loose ponytail and make a small loophole just above the hairband to thread your ponytail through. Pop the ‘tail’ of your ponytail through the loop, pull down, tighten and tuck the rest of the tail up into the twist, so it’s hidden. Fix in place with hairgrips and a spritz of hairspray.

Glossy ponytail

Sophisticated, silky and suitable for all kinds of festive events, a glossy high ponytail is a great all-rounder if you’ve got long, thick hair.

Prep your hair by washing with our Miraculous Recovery Repairing Shampoo and Miraculous Recovery Repairing Conditioner, then add a small amount of Frizz Ease All-in-1 Extra Strength Serum to your lengths while your hair’s still damp.

The key is to keep the crown of your ponytail shiny and slick, and the length of it brushed out and full – to add volume, make two ponytails right on top of each other once your hair’s dry. This creates length, adds height at the crown and adds volume and thickness. To conceal the two hairbands, wrap a section of hair around the outside of them both and pin in place.

Greek halo braid

If you’re hoping to channel your inner goddess on Christmas Day, this romantic braided hairstyle is perfect for you.

Start this style following the same steps as you would for a Dutch braid, and weave the braid as one long plait along your hairline. Next, secure with grips, sparkly clips or an elastic.

Halo braids are brilliant for keeping your hair away from your face and out of the way if you’re planning a busy day of cooking, games and fun - if your hair’s prone to flyaways, touch up during the day with our Secret Agent Touch-Up Crème. If you’ve got fine hair, we recommend using our Weightless Wonder Featherlight Smoothing Crème instead.

Hollywood waves

Whether you’re walking the red carpet or just looking to make an entrance at the Christmas party, Hollywood waves are always in style.

This timeless, elegant style is characterised with neatly-cascading waves with effortless glossy shine. To get the look, start with clean, dry hair. After spritzing your hair with a heat-protectant spray, use a large-barrel curling iron to create uniform waves, curling away from your face. Allow the curls to cool before gently brushing them out for a softer, flowing effect, and finish with a glossing spray for a stunning finish.
