HOW TO DEEP CONDITION YOUR HAIR LIKE A PRO

Take a break – you deserve it - and give yourself some well-deserved pampering. If your hair’s feeling a little frazzled, now’s the time to invest in one of our deep conditioning hair masks to get it in tip-top condition for the summer.

All of our deep conditioning treatments are expertly-designed to leave your hair revitalised, hydrated and nurtured. Simply sit back, relax and let our products work their magic to smooth and reduce the appearance of your split ends.

What is deep conditioning?

A deep conditioning treatment nourishes hair more intensely than regular conditioners. Whether you’re concerned with dryness, damage or split ends, a deep conditioner is the perfect addition to your hair care regime to boost your hair’s health.

Depending on the condition of your hair, you should use a deep conditioning treatment around once a week. However, if your hair feels dry and stressed, you can use them up to 2-3 times a week.

What are the benefits of using a deep conditioner?

Deep conditioning treatments come with multiple benefits:
  • Hydrate and soften hair damaged by dyeing, heat styling or bleaching
  • Improve hair elasticity and restore moisture
  • Prevent and reduce the appearance of hair breakage

What’s the difference between normal conditioners and deep conditioners?

Regular conditioners moisturise and strengthen the surface of your hair, have a thinner consistency, and only need to stay on for 1-2 minutes to work. Deep conditioners and hair masks strengthen and moisturise the cuticles inside your hair, have a thicker consistency, and need to stay on for between 5-15 minutes to work.

How to use deep conditioning hair masks

  1. Shampoo your hair with your usual shampoo, then rinse with lukewarm water
  2. Liberally apply the deep conditioning treatment to your lengths using your fingers
  3. Wait as long as your product's instructions specify for the mask to absorb into your hair. Top tip – put on a shower cap to keep your treatment in one place while you wait
  4. Rinse until your hair runs clear with lukewarm water
  5. Wrap your hair in a microfibre turban and gently pat dry
  6. Style as usual

Can you leave a hair mask on too long?

It depends. If you’re applying a hair mask to dry hair to condition it overnight, the answer is no - dry hair is less porous than wet hair, so there’s no risk of your hair absorbing ‘too much’ of the product. Just make sure you wash, lightly condition and rinse your hair thoroughly in the morning.

However if you’re applying a deep conditioner to wet hair, rinse it out when you’re advised to. Wet hair is very absorbent, and could end up taking on too much of the hair mask which will result in lank, greasy hair – even after you rinse.
