Perfect the look: Bedhead hair

Gently tousled, undone 'bedhead' hair was a massive trend on the catwalks this year.
But achieving this look requires more work than just rolling out of bed. We spoke to some of the U.K.'s top hair experts and asked for their advice on how to perfect the bedhead look.
"My favourite way to get a chic bedhead hairstyle, which is super quick and easy, is to sleep in braids overnight," Karen Thomson, Owner of KAM Hair and Body Spa, told Cover Media. "Once you have woke up in the morning and taken the braid out, if you want to create more volume or a messier look, simply spray the hair with some salt spray or texturizing spray and scrunch the hair."
Of course, you can also use a curling tong to achieve the waves you want, and a texturizing spray is a fab way of finishing off the look.
"Tousled/bedhead hair is a favourite no matter what time of year," Ross Charles, Owner of Ross Charles Hairdressing, added. "Texturizing sprays are perfect to create that undone look and my top tip is to spray the under sections of hair to add more volume. Styling your hair into waves and then gently backcombing is also a great way to achieve that 'undone' look. Use a wide tooth comb to add some texture and body to your hair."
Hair styling tools are vital in achieving this look. While Ross favours a comb to backcomb, Leah Durrant, Director of Leah Durrant Hair Salon & Beauty Re:Treat, loves a proper backcombing brush.
"Use the backcombing brush around the crown of your scalp, firmly pushing the hair towards the scalp in one motion," she explained. "Once you have reached your desired shape and height, be sure to smooth over the top section of the hair to cover the backcombing and finish by using some hairspray to set the look."
Or, if you don't have a backcombing brush, use a natural bristle brush.
"The natural bristle brush can be used in the same way as the backcombing brush; however, this brush can compress more of the hair at the one time faster, which leads to the build up of more volume," Dylan Brittain, International Artistic Director, Owner of Rainbow Room George Square, noted. "You can also create a gorgeous tousled hairstyle by adding some salt spray to damp hair, avoiding the roots, and allowing hair to dry naturally. This technique is great for those who want a more natural, loose look."
