Use Heat Wisely
You're not going to stop using styling tools completely, but you can learn to use them smartly. When you blow-dry hair, use a diffuser or hold the dryer a good distance from hair so that strands don't come into direct contact with high heat. Whenever possible, dry at low heat, and try lowering the heat on your flat iron and curling iron as well.
Choose the Right Tools
Select a good, ceramic flat iron, one that gets hot enough to straighten hair but not so hot that it will severely damage strands. Also, take another look at your manual implements: use a wide-tooth comb or try a paddle brush; its bristles are wide enough to be gentle on hair.
Colour Safely
That gorgeous hair colour may come at a price – damage from frequent chemical treatments. To keep your colour-treated hair as healthy-looking as possible, be sure to condition often, protect against further damage from sun exposure, and try to keep your chemical treatments to a minimum.
Brush Kindly
Forget that old advice to brush 100 times before bed. Too much brushing can actually cause breakage. So once you have the tangles smoothed, ease up on the brushing. And minimize backcombing. Instead, to create volume, try a root booster like Full Repair™ Protecting Root Lift Foam.
Schedule that Trim
The longer your hair, the longer your strands have come into contact with the damaging effects of heat styling, chemical treatments, and sun exposure. So no matter how much you love your long style, be sure to trim your hair regularly, preferably every 4-6 weeks, depending on length and condition of hair. Regular trims help to eliminate and prevent split ends, improving the overall look and feel of your hair.
Protect from the Sun
You love to soak up those rays, but your hair, just like your skin, needs protection. If you can stand to cover up your gorgeous style – temporarily -- throw on a hat, which will give you the most surefire protection from harmful UV rays. If hats don't suit your look, try wearing your hair up in a flattering ponytail or a low bun to minimize sun exposure. Finally, try leaving in conditioner while at the beach or poolside to help nourish strands.

Adding lowlights to hair creates rich, multidimensional tones and the illusion of depth.
Find a Good Cut
Myth: layers create volume. Fact: too many layers can make your strands look limp. Instead, have your stylist give you a beautiful one-length cut with face-framing layers to add movement.
Discover the Power of Curls
Switch it Up
To give strands a little unexpected lift, switch your usual part to the other side of your head.
Be a Tease
Teasing your hair creates dramatic volume, but be gentle with that comb.

Expert Tips to Ignite Red Hair 1
Water and sun can be your hair colour's worst enemies. When out in the sun, wear a hat to protect your red hue. When washing, use a colour-safe shampoo and conditioner or one designed to bring out your best red colour, like Radiant Red® Colour Protecting® Shampoo and Conditioner.

To boost shine while still in the shower, smooth on Clear Shine Luminous Glaze after you shampoo and condition. Leave on for three minutes, then rinse. The gentle, innovative formula infuses hair with shine and luxurious texture that enlivens any colour.
Expert Tips for Eye Catching Shine 3
Damaged hair loses its shine, so treat your tresses gently. Because hair can be especially fragile when wet, avoid rubbing wet strands with a towel. Instead, post-shower, lightly pat hair with your towel, and refrain from brushing. If you must brush, use a brush with natural bristles or a wide-toothed comb.

While we all love styling products, remember that build-up can prevent your hair from shining. Once a week, use a clarifying shampoo to clear dulling residue. And because split ends can make even healthy hair appear dull, schedule that occasional trim to maintain the overall look of healthy, shiny hair.

Treat Your Scalp to Massage
While shampooing, take a little extra time to massage your scalp. Or luxuriate in a scalp massage at the salon. This added attention helps improve circulation and helps relieve stress. Now that's beautiful!
Cool It
To give strands a little extra boost of shine, rinse hair in cold water after a warm shower. The cool temp helps close the cuticles.
Find Scalp-Friendly Ingredients
Invigorating and fortifying, natural Eucalyptus oil is associated with feeling clean and refreshed. Peppermint oil is known for being refreshing and giving a cooling sensation on the skin. Formulated with both Eucalyptus and peppermint, the Root Awakening® line delivers a relaxing, sensorial experience while addressing oily and dry scalp issues—and delivering beautiful style.
Protect Your Scalp
It's not just your skin and hair that need protection from damaging UV rays. When you plan to be outside for a long time, cover your head to protect your scalp, too.
Use the Right Products
Using too many products—or the wrong ones—can irritate your scalp and weigh down your style. The Root Awakening® line is formulated to address scalp concerns and beautiful style, in just a few steps.
Keep It Loose
Frequently pulling hair back in tight styles can lead to breakage and frizz. Try wearing your hair down this season, or go for loose updos or soft braids.
Sleep Softly
Sleep softly—on a satin pillowcase! The soft fabric helps strands hold on to moisture while reducing frizz-inducing friction.
Towel Gently
Avoid rubbing wet strands with your towel. Instead, post-shower, lightly pat hair with your towel—preferably one made of microfiber, which won't disturb the cuticle and helps to keep strands smooth.
Avoid Overshampooing
Wash your hair every other day instead of every day—especially curly hair, which tends to be dryer and frizzier. Frequent shampooing depletes hair of necessary moisture, which your locks will need as temperatures drop and the air becomes dryer.
Formal Event Updo
Date-night or dinner party—that formal event requires special attention. Whether you style your hair to be silky straight or soft and curly, consider pulling your hair back into a loose updo, secured with an eye-catching accessory. For a little bit of romance, add a few face-framing tendrils and curl with a small iron. And to complete the look, turn to Frizz-Ease® %100 Shine® Glossing Mist. Use it on dry, styled hair to create an all-over, high-gloss finish. Reapply, as needed, to keep hair glistening throughout your special evening.
Treat Damage - Weightlessly
Style mavens, take note. To reverse the look and feel of damage your strands might be suffering—from the heat tools and hair colour you can't live without—turn to the Full Repair® line to weightlessly transform overworked hair into silky, shiny hair that's full of renewed life.
For Once, Don't Think Green
Green has its place in environmental protection, but when it comes to preserving your blonde colour, green is the last shade you want to see in your hair. Prevent colour damage from chlorine by shampooing right after a pool swim. Then pamper your locks with a nourishing moisture mask or leave-in conditioner. If you log in serious mileage in the pool, put on conditioner before slipping on your swim cap.
Take Control of Your Roots
If your natural hair colour is light brown or blonde, and you have root regrowth, then try applying Sheer Blonde® Go Blonder Controlled Lightening Spray at your roots and apply heat. It will lighten your new, darker regrowth, lessening the contrast between your highlighted or bleached hair and your new growth. Use the product until you've reached the shade that closely matches the rest of your hair. Touch-up as necessary as new growth appears.
